Goodluck Jonathan's house in Abuja burgled, Police arrests policemen on guard duty
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command yesterday remanded the policemen who were supposed to be on guard duty at the Gwarinpa residence of former president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jona­than, following report­ed theft at the building.
According to DSP Anjuguri Manzah, Po­lice Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, the arrest­ed policemen would be thoroughly investigat­ed to ascertain the level of their complicity or laxity in the theft.
Unknown thieves re­portedly gained entry into the former first family’s Gwarimpa res­idence and made away with valuable property. The exact value of the property has not yet been established.
Manzah in a state­ment, clarified that the Police Command “has commenced full-fledge investigation into the case of theft in the resi­dence”, adding that “pre­liminary police investi­gation on the matter has revealed that some items were found to be miss­ing in the house”.
He added that “the Policemen who are sup­posed to be on guard duty at the house have been detained for ques­tioning. Investigation to find out what actually happened is currently in progress.
“The Command wants to assure all that the result of findings on the on-going inves­tigation will be made public”.
